Strength and Dignity are Her Clothing

Strength and dignity are her clothing; she laughs at the time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom; and the law of kindness is on her tongue.
She looks well to the ways of her household, and eats not the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up, and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praise her, saying:
Many daughters have done worthily, but thou excels them all. Proverbs 31:25-29
She’s an African Woman. Strength is her most valued trait for she carries the soul of a people in her heart. Her faith in God’s goodness gives her the courage to face uncertain days. Working on computers by day and boiling water on an open fire every night- both duties assure that her children grow up strong and healthy. Job security to her is a myth, a fairy tale in a society dominated by men with unemployment rates raising to near 70%. Yet she is thankful for the 10,000 shillings she earns every month. They now can afford a flat (apartment) with two rooms with stema (electricity)which is a blessing that she doesn’t take for granted. The community’s water spigot is only 15 meters from her door which is so much closer than the river where her aging mama still carries buckets of water to her mud hut in the village.
Life is hard for women in Kenya but “the women that know their God shall be strong, and do exploits (heroic, daring deeds).” Daniel 11:32. Knowing this NEEMA’s Bible College teacher Mary Stanley enthusiastic teaching at NEEMA Bible College for she knows that only through the knowledge of God’s Word is there everlasting strength and hope for the Christian women of Kenya.
